Position Title Development and Alumni Event Coordinator I
Position Summary

The Development and Alumni Relations Department works to strengthen Mercer County Community College by increasing philanthropic support from alumni and community partners. Development and Alumni Relations cultivate prospects, plan and implement fund-raising initiatives, as well as donor recognition and stewardship events.

The P/T Coordinator will assist with planning and executing highly visible strategic-event based experiences targeted at a variety of audiences including alumni, donors, volunteers, local community, business leaders and the campus community. The P/T Coordinator will design events that build a culture of engagement, lifelong relationships and philanthropy. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

I. Overall
• Works with Development, Alumni Relations and Advancement leadership to establish strategic event goals.
• Prepares annual event plans with short and long-range milestones to meet institutional objectives.
• Prepares and adheres to event budgets.
• Implements systems and procedures for events management.
• Employs persuasive recruiting techniques to enlist volunteers to serve on event committees (e.g. faculty and staff, alumni and friends).
• Manage and thoughtfully engage volunteer committee members.
• Makes specific arrangements essential to event production both on and off campus, including venue, menu, entertainment, seating/table assignments, nametags, transportation, awards, gifts and décor.
• Promotes robust attendance by maintaining & updating invitation lists (using Raiser’s Edge), producing creative invitations, and coordinating publicity and promotion.
• Recommends actions to promote the fundraising success of benefit events.
• May be tasked to assist other College departments in preparing for events that relate to or influence Development.

II. Specific Events Management
• Revamp and execute a New Graduate Alumni Welcome Celebration.
• Create, coordinate and oversee a two-week “student phonathon” project.
• Assist with organizing the College’s fall and spring Scholarship Stewardship events.
• Manage Alumni Relations events related to Development and College Advancement.
• Assists with occasional assigned events coordinated through the President’s Office.

III. Supervisory Responsibilities
• No direct staff supervisory. responsibilities.
• May coordinate student workers and contractors if needed for specific events.

• Proficient using Microsoft Word and Excel is essential.
• Must have a solid understanding of relational database functionality. Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge database software is the primary tool used by the Development staff almost daily to manage our events, fundraising efforts, alumni, donor, and gift records.
• Create, track and manage each assigned event using Raiser’s Edge (RE) Database and RE Event Module.
• Position is subject to a criminal conviction record check.

Required Qualifications

• Associates degree required

• Three or more years of related events planning and volunteer management experience

• Three or more years of Social Media event marketing experience

Preferred Qualifications

Raiser’s Edge experience preferred

Physical Demands

Ability to execute light physical activities required to perform the essential job functions, including, but not limited to, regular sitting and being mobile; continual talking and hearing both in person and on the telephone; and regular keyboarding.

Salary $17.00 per hour
