Position Title Automotive Technology
Position Summary

The Automotive Technology full-time, twelve month, faculty member is responsible for providing theoretical and technical instruction to students in both classroom lecture and experiential lab settings. Teaching and performing administrative duties are both required for this position. Experience working with automotive dealerships and experience as an automotive technician is required, preferably with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) and/or Subaru of America. Experience teaching current automotive technologies required as hired individual will teach a range of courses, both lecture and lab. Candidate must have experience in teaching general automotive courses. Experience in teaching Mopar CAP preferred.
Experience as instructor in higher education setting preferred.
Experience with Online modalities and instruction in Blackboard preferred.
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred

Required Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred.

• Ensures OSHA requirements and safety regulations are meticulously met.
• Teaches Classroom lecture-style instruction, (includes using technology such as; automated presentations, computer generated slides, videos, college online interface)
• Hands-on lab instruction and supervision.
• Availability to teach at night and during summer months.
• Assessment of student progress and success, to include classroom assessment of individual students and course/program outcome assessment
• Maintenance of the training vehicles and equipment utilized by students.
• Maintain inventory and provide periodic budgeting assessments.
• Advise and mentor students through individual and group interactions and office hours.
• Develop and revise AUT curriculum to ensure it meets industry standards
• Maintain current and secure additional ASE certifications and other professional certifications and training as the AUT program and supporting vehicle manufacturers require. These may change as articulation agreements with automobile manufacturers may change and develop.
• Develop and foster outside partnerships with automotive industry professionals and dealerships.
• Participate in college-wide committees and campus activities.
• Participate in student recruitment and retention activities.
• Monitor and maintain current and future relationships with vehicle manufacturers that provide sponsorship to the college program, this may include attending meetings, answering emails, or phone calls.
Minimum of five years as a full-time automotive service technician required. Experience with FCA and/or Subaru products preferred.
• Currently has specialized industry and training certificates: ASE Certified Master Automobile Technician (A1-A8),G1, and L1.
• Two years of experience as instructor in automotive technical skills required. Experience as instructor in higher education setting preferred.
• Candidate should have experience in teaching a general automotive course curriculum. Experience in teaching Mopar CAP preferred.
• Training certification in FCA and/or Subaru (Through level 2 required)
• Valid driver’s license.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to lift, stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
Since this is an active automotive repair shop environment:
The employee must be able to lift 20 lbs., stoop kneel, crouch, or crawl at least 10% of the workday
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time throughout the workday.

Salary $46-219 -Commensurate with eduation and experience
